It’s Saturday 11th November and once again I’m on the seafront in Withernsea, East Yorkshire, and for once I’m pleased to be watching anglers rather than fishing myself writes Daiwa Consultant Brian Skoyles.

The leaves are falling off the trees and the first frost of the winter has taken hold so to me this means it’s time to get ready for some fantastic small water fishing. At this time of year most anglers hang up the rods and sit in doors tying flies, dreaming of the new season or having nightmares about the fish they have lost in the season just gone.

My season no longer starts on October 1st, it seems to run through most of the year. However many clubs sensibly have restrictions as to when you pike fish and September or October is the start of my season on many of the waters I fish.

Well only a few days to go before the World Pairs kicks off and I am very excited!! Last year was our first entry into the competition and I thought it was a fantastic event and I was very impressed with the organisation of the week long competition. Heading south, down the motorway, sipping out of a takeaway coffee cup at 4am might not appeal to some, but I was meeting up with Brian Skoyles for a two day carp session and I was loving it!

The Daiwa sponsored 2017 Schools National was recently held at Hallcroft Fishery and attended by 9 school teams (45 anglers).

A lovely mild day and good company is always a good combination for a fishing competition. We got this short report from Hywel Morgan who ran the Daiwa sponsored Moc Morgan Memorial Classic at Llyn Brenig in North Wales. The lake did not disappoint even in bright sunny conditions.
