“It was one of those days when everything came together, and the action was pretty much none stop from when I arrived to packing up as it started to get dark” said Martyn.
“I’ve fished the lake a few times this winter as it’s got a good stock of carp and is perfect for a bite or two in the colder months. Over the different trips I’ve gradually started to piece together the tactics that seem to be working and get a rough idea on the likely location of the bulk of the carp in certain conditions.”
“On this particular day the weather was great for January being mild with a strong wind blowing down the lake and luckily I managed to get a peg in the area I fancied. As conditions looked good I baited with a scattering of 15mm boilies in front of me before casting two high attract glugged hookbaits over the top. Within half an hour one of the rods was away and from that point the carp just kept on coming.”
Martyn landed the fish using Infinity Advanced 3lbtc rods coupled with Tournament Basia QD reels and 12lb Sensor line.
