A well-deserved victory and an amazing back story

Congratulations to River Clyde angler Peter Hutchison who won the 2018 Daiwa Cup for the biggest salmon of the season on UCAPA (United Clyde Angling Protective Association LTD) controlled water. Peter was presented with the cup and his Daiwa prize at the UCAPA Salmon season opening ceremony on the 16th of February.

Peter’s story started during the 2017 season. Fishing on the Mid Clyde at Blantyre he had the seasons biggest fish, an 18lb Salmon. His worthy catch won the ‘Fish of the week’ in one of the Scottish daily papers. It was an amazing result and his winning prize was a Wilderness Salmon 13’ fly rod.
The story didn’t finish there. He went on to use this rod through the 2018 season catching 16 salmon to date. This time, further upstream on UCAPA water at Crossford he caught another 18lb Salmon and
won the 2018 Daiwa Cup.
