Distance casting from the shore has entered a new chapter thanks to the 26 Tournament Basia Surf.
The redesign of the 45mm spool, offers an increase in diameter of 10% and a minute taper at 2°. With optimal line lay from Slow Cross Wrap and the ‘LC’ twin lip feature all these combine to unlock a blissful casting experience.
Additionally, the retrieval jumps to 98cm per handle turn, even with a geared down ratio of 4.1:1.
This leap in spool size has seen the development of our biggest ever rotor for a surf reel.
The Airdrive rotor, made of lightweight and torque resistant Zaion, has been completely redesigned and, in combination with the new wider spool design, delivers perfect sensitivity, strength and assured handling.
A bigger spool and rotor calls for a bigger bail. AIRDRIVE Bail uses a thinner diameter of hollow pipe, reducing weight but keeping rigidity and toughness.
Slow Cross Wrap is the perfected angle of line lay on the spool to optimize loading and release. The reduced line resistance during the cast delivers increased energy and distance.
The 26 Tournament Basia Surf 45 QD comes with a shallow spool with a capacity of 300m/0.18mm and is ideal for use with thin braided lines. The included spare spool offers a line capacity of 300m of 0.35mm monofilament line.
Designed to serve in all elements, especially in the sea environment the presence of Mag Sealed delivers that protection, halting the ingress salt, water borne debris and abrasives into the gearing.
Despite all that is bigger and added, the 26 Tournament Basia Surf is remarkably light at 515g, thanks to the strong yet weight saving ZAION body and rotor.
Standard features like QD Quick Drag (now 15kg), HIP line clip and Twistbuster III are also present as well as a T-Shaped Hi-Grip handle knob.
