Mistress skipper Richard Cope revealed, “The big ling fell to squid presented on a paternoster rig, and was caught by a guy called Graham who was part of a party of Network Rail lads from Manchester.”
“It gave a good account of itself, and Graham was grunting and groaning and after around 10 minutes we could see a decent fish flashing under the surface, I encouraged `it looks a good one down there mate, keep her coming steady’ then it broke surface I could tell it was well over 20lb. After much back slapping we weighed and photographed it.”
“It was part of a haul of some tidy fish as we already had ling to 12lb and cod to double figures, caught on both bait and shads.”
The fish was landed using a Daiwa 20/30 Sea Hunter rod and Slosh 30 reel loaded with 50lb Spectra braid.
