I’m a member of a carp syndicate based at a North Lincolnshire water called Lakewood. It’s a lovely water, full of character, containing a good head of commons and mirrors to mid-twenties. It is brilliantly run by Dave Butt and his team of helpers, so you are guaranteed immaculate pegs, no litter and a pleasant membership that respects each other’s space and experience. Every year the syndicate organises a charity social, a combination of talks, socializing and money raising. This year I was invited to be one of the guest speakers writes Daiwa Consultant Brian Skoyles.

Over the years I’ve been involved in many junior coaching events, but this was to be my first Korda Carp Academy. I had heard so many good things about the Academy, so as I headed round the M25 I was really looking forward to the three days ahead, writes Daiwa consultant Brian Skoyles.

Well what a European Championships we have just had. Held on the Lage Vaart canal in The Netherlands it saw three home nations finish in the top four places!

Wimbledon, Silverstone and Ostellato were all scenes of tremendous victories for British sport this weekend. Whilst Murray and Hamilton dominated at their home events, it was our own Daiwa Dorking team who delivered the goods away from home by winning the 36th World Club Championship.
